Salaamualeykum, (0) commentsThe assassination of Benazir Bhutto. It was on the news 24-7. Now, here's my thoughts about this whole Pakistani political Whirlpool. ![]() Firstly, deepest condolences to her family, friends and aides. I've to say that I was deeply shocked and somewhat saddened by the assassination. However, there is no excuse what so ever from the side of her supporters, and opportunists, to go around the country rioting and turning Pakistan into post-war Hiroshima. Benazir Bhutto (BB) wont come to life even if you burnt down the entire world. Here's my view on BB.With ALL due respects of cause. While BB's father, Zulfikr Ali Bhutto did some astonishing things for Pakistan...initiating the nuclear program in Pakistan is most definitely the crown of them all, he was hanged later in 1979 after being charged of murder. His legacy , other then the mentioned nuclear program, is also being a notoriously corrupt leader. BB seems to follow suit. She has been charged with multiple corruption charges. Two times in office and two times being dismissed from office by the President for corruption.Thats too much. There are on going fact finding investigations of these corruption allegations against her and her husband, Asif Ali Zardari in Pakistan and even other countries like Switzerland. Asif is, in fact, called Mr.10 Percent in Pakistan ...mainly due to his granting of big project contracts to companies, with him getting 10% commission. Perhaps BB wont be so corrupt had it not been for her husband. Murder charges also trail BB and her husband. Ironically, it was the murder of her brother,Murtaza Bhutto, in 1996. Murtaza was against Asif's influence on BB and accused them of corruption. This was during the Premiership of BB. If you are not South Asian, then you might not know that it spelt disaster to criticise the Prime Minister. If the circumstances of his assassination were not suspicious enough, then the Court's finding that it has to be approved by the higher levels of the government definitely gives creditability to the suspicion. (Reada bout Murtaza's Murder) Of course, like most politician, BB had her own long list of unfulfilled promises to the people of Pakistan. While I do respect her for being brave, I believe she invited her own death. After the bombing at her arrival rally that killed 130 people, she should have avoided public rallies...not for her sake...rather, at least for the sake of her supporters who are always the victim. Had she really cared for the people, she should have put their lives in front of her. Mass rallies are not important at all, all thats important is that you fulfill your promises. In the end, I have to say, despite my sorrow for her family and those who love her, I'm glad she wont be the PM. She would have torn Pakistan into pieces and auctioned them off to US, especially with the post-911 US foreign policy, her government would be puppets of her American friends. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, her son , is now the co-chairman of Pakistan People's Party, sharing the post with his father. This is extremely an emotional move by the party committee. Bilawal has not even joined the adult's world, nor has he finished his education, nor is he accustomed to being in Pakistan (having spent long time abroad). If the election is simply because he's a Bhutto, then the party should be renamed Bhutto Party. Again I stress, these are my opinions...delivered with ALL due respect to everyone. I'm glad the elections are pushed back, it should be pushed back much further, any elections now will result in unfair advantage to PPP with sympathy votes. People are too emotional at the time being. Benazir Bhutto, may Allah have mercy on your soul.Only He know the truth about you,and only He can decide your fate. ALLAH MADAD! God Bless Pakistan.
